Biography

Misri Patel is an architect and researcher currently serving as the Ann Kalla Visiting Professor at Carnegie Mellon University School of Architecture from 2023 to 2025. Previously, she was a Visiting Lecturer at the Weitzman School of Design at the University of Pennsylvania and served as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Practice at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Her pedagogical interests focus on material systems, computational design, acoustics, and additive manufacturing, alongside traditional and advanced fabrication methods. Misri received the Ballard Fellowship from Lawrence Technological University in 2019, where she also served as Research Lead for Taubman College's Long Range Glass project. In 2022, she received the R+D Award from Architect Magazine for her project. Her work has been published in several journals and conference proceedings, and has been exhibited at significant venues including the Venice Biennale and DigitalFUTURES conference in New York. She holds a Bachelor of Architecture from NMIMS BSSA in Mumbai and a Master of Science in Digital and Material Technologies from Taubman College, University of Michigan. In addition to her academic roles, Misri has gained professional experience working with firms such as Sameep Padora in Mumbai and LOT-EK in New York, as well as shadowing Perkins in Los Angeles. She is dedicated to exploring the intersection of architecture and technology to enhance creative design practices.
