Biography

Mitesh B. Rao, MD, MHS, is the Founder and CEO of OMNY, a venture-backed company that revolutionizes healthcare data sharing. He is a board-certified Emergency Medicine physician and serves as an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor at Stanford University in the Department of Emergency Medicine. Dr. Rao has held significant leadership positions such as Chief Patient Safety Officer at Stanford Healthcare, where he led initiatives in patient safety, quality, and system redesign. He previously directed the Center for Advancing Patient Safety and has extensive experience implementing new innovations in patient safety and quality improvement. Trained through the prestigious Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholars Program, Dr. Rao has served in various leadership roles, focusing on systems-level improvements in patient care both domestically and internationally. His experience includes working with governmental and non-profit agencies to enhance patient safety on a national scale. He also served as Head of Research Integration for health innovation programs at Northwestern, emphasizing innovative methodologies in care provision, including telemedicine and mobile health initiatives. Dr. Rao mentors multiple healthcare-focused startups, guiding them through the development and implementation of impactful solutions for patient care.
