Biography

Mitu Sengupta is a Full Professor in the Department of Politics and Public Administration at Toronto Metropolitan University, where she is also a member of the Yeates School of Graduate Studies. She specializes in Comparative Politics and Political Theory, having completed her PhD in Political Science at the University of Toronto. Mitu also holds a Master of Arts in Political Science from McGill University, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Philosophy from the same institution. Her research focuses on Indian market liberalization, development, and the implications of labor migration in India, as well as the cultural impacts of sporting events and film. Currently, she is engaged in a book-length project that examines the normative foundations of India’s economic policy development strategy. Mitu is fluent in English, Hindi, and Bengali, and teaches several undergraduate courses, including Politics of Development and Politics of Film at TMU.
