Biography

Dr. Mo Li is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Agriculture and Environment at Massey University. He completed his Doctor of Philosophy in Postharvest Technology at Massey University in 2017, having previously obtained his Bachelor of Food Technology with Honours in 2011. His research expertise lies in non-destructive optical techniques and advanced machine learning methods to solve industrial problems in the horticulture sector. His doctoral research focused on predicting the storage potential of kiwifruit by developing mathematical predictive models based on non-destructive measurements of the fruit. Dr. Li is particularly interested in various innovative technologies, such as visible-near infrared (Vis-NIR) spectroscopy, hyperspectral imaging, and optical coherence tomography (OCT). He is currently investigating the performance of consumer-scale sensors for fruit quality prediction and is involved in doctoral supervision in related fields. Through his publications, he has contributed to the knowledge base surrounding postharvest technology and fruit quality assessment, making significant strides in the understanding of how optical technologies can enhance agricultural practices.
