Biography

Moe Ahmed is a PhD Research Fellow at the University of Southampton, focusing on Electric/Plasma propulsion systems and their in-space applications. His research includes plasma diagnostics and the development of hollow cathodes as electron sources. He specializes in Hall-effect thrusters within the domain of Space Engineering. Ahmed is an active member of research groups dedicated to electron beam additive manufacturing, where he is currently developing a quasi-one-dimensional plasma model to characterize and investigate electron beam additive manufacturing processes. He also utilizes Spacecraft Plasma Interaction Software (SPIS) for plasma simulation, contributing to the advancement of hollow cathodes and their characterization. Through his work, he aims to enable data-rich processes in additive manufacturing, which holds significant promise for future space propulsion technologies.
