Biography

Mohamad Awada is an Assistant Professor at NYU Tandon School of Engineering. His research focuses on the integration of sensing systems and immersive technologies with artificial intelligence to enhance human livability and optimize the design and operation of built environments. Mohamad's academic journey includes earning a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Southern California in 2024, and a M.Sc. in Computer Science from the same university in 2021. He also holds a M.Sc. in Civil Engineering with a focus on Construction Engineering Management from the American University of Beirut, and a B.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the same institution. His work has been recognized with awards such as the University of Southern California PhD Achievement Award in 2024 and the Sonny Astani CEE Outstanding Department Service Award in 2023. Mohamad leads the Smart Innovations Built Environment Research Lab (SiBER), where his team explores the integration of AI and machine learning technologies to innovate applications within the built environment.
