Biography

Mohamad Mikati M.D. is the Wilburt C. Davison Distinguished Professor in the Department of Pediatrics and a Professor in the Department of Neurobiology at Duke University. His clinical research focuses on the characterization and therapy of pediatric epilepsy neurology syndromes, particularly in developing novel therapeutic strategies for epilepsy-related disorders like Alternating Hemiplegia of Childhood. He utilizes advanced genetic and Magnetic Resonance Imaging techniques to explore mechanisms underlying seizure-related neuronal injury. Dr. Mikati has published more than 290 peer-reviewed articles, 400 abstracts, and 41 book chapters, with an impressive h-index of 58. He completed his MD at the American University of Beirut and has held several prestigious positions, including Chief of the Division of Pediatric Neurology at Boston Children's Hospital and Professor and Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics. He has also played significant roles in numerous international organizations related to pediatric neurology and received multiple awards for his contributions to the field. Dr. Mikati is actively involved in research, grants, and guiding future medical professionals.
