Dr. Mohamed Ali

Biography

Dr. Mohamed R. Ali is a Professor and Chief of Foregut and Metabolic General Surgery at UC Davis Health, where he also serves as Senior Associate Chief Medical Officer and Executive Director of the Center for Alimentary Metabolic Science. His expertise encompasses weight management and metabolic health, with a focus on medically-supervised weight loss programs and bariatric surgery to aid patients in managing their weight and improving associated medical conditions. Dr. Ali is deeply involved in research that explores the relationship between nutrition and metabolic health, aiming to optimize preventative treatment strategies in this critical area. He values the importance of building a successful therapeutic relationship based on trust and transparency between patients and their physicians. Dr. Ali has held prominent positions, including Associate Editor for the journal Surgery Obesity Related Disorders and Chair of Research for the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. He was honored with the LEAD Research Award by the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Foundation in 2015.
