Biography

Mohamed El-Erian is a Senior Global Fellow at the Lauder Institute and a part-time Professor of Practice at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. His extensive experience in global affairs, policy, and business allows him to contribute significantly to the curriculum and mentor students at the institute. El-Erian is a recognized leader in economics and finance, having served as the chief economic adviser to Allianz and as a senior advisor to Gramercy. He has been recognized for four consecutive years in Foreign Policy’s list of "Top 100 Global Thinkers" for his influential ideas, including his coining of the term "New Normal" in 2009 which described the expected subdued economic growth in advanced economies following the 2008 financial crisis.
