Biography

Dr. Mohamed Elmahgoub joined Southampton Business School in September 2021. He previously held a Senior Lecturer position and was the Accounting Course Director for MAcc Accounting Finance at Birmingham City University. Before that, he worked as a Lecturer in Accounting at the University of Essex. With over 12 years of experience in international universities, Dr. Elmahgoub is an active researcher in areas such as Auditing, Narrative Reporting, and Corporate Governance. He has published in several internationally recognized journals, including the Journal of Business Ethics, and has secured a research grant of £45,000 from the Financial Reporting Council. His research interests include Market-based accounting research and Earnings Management, and he welcomes PhD applications in his areas of research expertise. Dr. Elmahgoub completed his PhD in Accounting at the University of Strathclyde, focusing on the impact of the extended audit report on financial reporting quality. He also holds an MSc in Accounting Finance with Distinction and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA). In 2022, he was nominated for prestigious awards recognizing excellence in teaching and student support, including the Vice-Chancellor's Award and the SUSU Academic Award.
