Biography

Dr. Mohammad Biglarbegian is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Carleton University. He has a B.Sc. from the University of Tehran, an M.A.Sc. from the University of Toronto, and a Ph.D. from the University of Waterloo. Prior to his appointment at Carleton, he was a faculty member in the School of Engineering at the University of Guelph from 2011 until 2023. Dr. Biglarbegian is a registered Professional Engineer in Ontario and a senior member of IEEE. His research team specializes in the advanced design, modeling, and development of novel algorithms for mechatronics systems, particularly focusing on autonomous systems, robotics, and vehicles. He is actively involved in supervising both graduate and undergraduate students and has collaborated with various industrial partners and supported agencies, leading to significant national and international research initiatives. Dr. Biglarbegian has received several prestigious awards, including the University of Guelph Research Excellence Award in 2018. He teaches courses such as Controls, Mechatronics, Robotics, and Autonomous Systems, and his research interests include the modeling, design, and control of mechatronics systems, as well as the application of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in these fields.
