Biography

Dr. Mohammad Rafey is an MD nephrologist and hypertension specialist who focuses on managing patients with kidney disease and hypertension. He is particularly experienced in treating complex resistant hypertension and hypotension secondary to dysautonomia. Dr. Rafey completed his training in Internal Medicine and Nephrology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York and underwent a two-year fellowship in Hypertension at the same institution. He has been recognized as a Hypertension Specialist by the American Society of Hypertension and was inducted as a Fellow in 2010. He also earned a Master's in Clinical Research from New York University in 2007. Currently, he serves as the director of the AHA Comprehensive Hypertension Center at UChicago Medicine and is the program director for the hypertension fellowship program, where he is actively involved in teaching topics related to kidney disease and hypertension. His research as a principal investigator includes trials on novel therapies for hypertension, and he is a co-investigator in significant trials conducted by the National Institutes of Health. With over 40 original research papers and abstracts published in peer-reviewed medical journals, Dr. Rafey has authored chapters in leading textbooks related to Internal Medicine, Hypertension, and Nephrology. He is dedicated to mentoring students, interns, residents, and fellows in clinical education and research.
