Biography

Dr. Mohammad Rezania is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Warwick, with a specialization in Geomechanics. He earned his Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from Sharif University of Technology in 2002, followed by a Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering from Iran University of Science and Technology in 2004. He completed his PhD in Geotechnical Engineering at the University of Exeter in 2008. Rezania's postdoctoral research included collaborations with institutions such as the University of Strathclyde, Plaxis BV in the Netherlands, and Aalto University in Finland. He joined the University of Nottingham as an Assistant Professor in 2013, moved to Warwick in 2017, and was promoted to Reader in 2021. His research interests span energy resources, geotechnics, geomaterials, and the modeling of geostructures, focusing on applied research that addresses practical industry challenges. He is the principal investigator of the 'MINRESCUE' project, aimed at developing sustainable solutions for mining waste valorization in the construction sector and is also the Editor-in-Chief of the ICE Journal of Machine Learning in Data Science in Geotechnics, initiated in 2024.
