Biography

Mohammadreza Arani received his B.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering from Sharif University of Technology, Tehran, Iran in 2009. He completed his M.Sc. degree at the University of Waterloo, Canada in 2012, and earned his Ph.D. degree from the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada in 2017, specializing in Electrical Engineering. During his academic career, he worked as a research associate at the University of Waterloo from 2012 to 2013 and served as an NSERC post-doctoral fellow at the University of Toronto from 2017 to 2019. In July 2019, he joined Toronto Metropolitan University as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical, Computer, Biomedical Engineering. His research interests are focused on cyber-physical security in smart grids, dynamics and control of microgrids, renewable distributed generation, plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, power system stability, and power electronics.
