Dr. Mohammed Alemu

Biography

Mohammed Hussen Alemu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Food and Resource Economics at the University of Copenhagen. He has previously worked as a postdoctoral researcher at various universities in Denmark and Iceland, including the University of Copenhagen, Aarhus University, and Reykjavik University. He earned his PhD in Environmental Resource Economics, with a research focus on consumer behavior regarding novel, climate-friendly, and healthy foods. His primary research interests include behavioral economics with a special focus on sustainable food systems, development economics with an emphasis on climate-adapted agricultural practices, and environmental economics focusing on the economic valuation of non-market goods and services derived from public goods. He is actively engaged in research concerning consumer behavior in the circular economy, innovative business models, soil health, and the impact evaluation of sustainable farming practices and climate change adaptation strategies in developing countries.
