Biography

Mohan Malleshaiah is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine at the University of Montreal. His research focuses on the understanding of cellular states and their transitions, which are fundamental to development, diseases such as cancer, and cellular reprogramming. His research unit specializes in identifying cell-state specific regulators, elucidating their networks, and characterizing their dynamics. Utilizing stem cell and cancer cell models, his team employs quantitative single-cell measurements—including proteomics and genomics—combined with computational analysis and modeling approaches. The aim is to comprehend regulatory mechanisms of cellular states and utilize this knowledge for cellular reprogramming and molecular design strategies. Malleshaiah has received recognition from the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Santé, and is actively involved in teaching and supervision of graduate students. His ongoing projects include unraveling regulatory networks of stem cell states using single-cell analysis and understanding mechanisms of epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition in pancreatic cancer.
