Biography

Mohit Tawarmalani is the Executive Associate Dean and Allison and Nancy Schleicher Professor at the Mitch Daniels School of Business, Purdue University. He serves as the academic director of the Krenicki Center for Business Analytics and Machine Learning. Mohit has a Ph.D. and a Master's in Industrial Engineering from the University of Illinois and a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology. Mohit Tawarmalani’s research interests span interface of computer science, optimization, and applications in operations research for business engineering. He has co-authored a book on global optimization algorithms and the BARON software package widely utilized for global optimization tasks. Mohit is also interested in applications of optimization in harnessing solar energy, designing network systems, and understanding the economics of business decisions. He has been recognized with several awards, including the INFORMS Computing Society Prize and the Beale-Orchard-Hays Prize from the Mathematical Programming Society. Additionally, Mohit serves as an Associate Editor for journals related to optimization and participates in academic leadership programs.
