Biography

Moira L. McConnell is Professor Emerita at the Schulich School of Law, Dalhousie University, and an Honorary Fellow of the Marine & Environmental Law Institute (MELAW). After retiring from full-time teaching in 2015, she continued to engage in numerous research projects and supervise master's and doctoral students. She served as an external examiner for the UN World Maritime University and has over 25 years of experience at the Faculty of Law at Dalhousie University. A member of the Nova Scotia Bar since 1990, she has held significant roles including Special Advisor for the ILO Maritime Labour Convention and Executive Director of the Law Reform Commission of Nova Scotia. Professor McConnell has conducted numerous legal implementation projects related to maritime law and is active in international and comparative law. She has published extensively, with over 100 scholarly publications in fields such as international law, environmental law, and social justice. She contributes to various journals and is involved in multiple legal organizations focused on economic law and environmental protection.
