Biography

Molly Monet-Viera is a Master Lecturer in Romance Studies with a focus on Spanish language and Latino cultural production. Originally from California, she discovered her passion for the Spanish language as a first-year student at Princeton University, leading her to major in the discipline. Her research interests encompass heritage speakers, anti-racist classroom culture, alternative grading practices, and Latin American film. She has contributed to the field by giving lectures and workshops on various topics including the ACTFL and the NECTFL, as well as participating in the NEMLA National Symposium on Spanish Heritage Language. In 2015, she developed an AP Spanish Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) on EdX, which enrolled 30,000 students from various nationalities. This initiative later resulted in the formation of independent learning cohorts that meet weekly. Outside of her academic pursuits, Molly enjoys traveling, knitting, practicing yoga, and engaging in social activism. She is also the mother of bilingual, Puerto Rican-American college students.
