Molly Ann Williams is a Research Fellow at the School of Life Sciences at the University of Warwick. Her current research focuses on biodiversity monitoring using molecular methods, particularly environmental DNA (eDNA) to assess both endangered and invasive species. Through collaboration with various organizations, such as Coventry City Council and Warwickshire Wildlife Trust, Molly is engaged in projects that establish the distribution of invasive Signal Crayfish in local waters as part of the Natural England Species Recovery Programme. Her doctoral work, conducted at Dublin City University, explored innovative approaches to eDNA monitoring, effectively integrating isothermal amplification with CRISPR detection for real-time monitoring of freshwater fish. In addition to her research interests, which span molecular techniques for environmental monitoring, Molly is passionate about science communication and outreach. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she worked with the Irish Department of Health to provide effective public health messaging. Molly also enjoys engaging with children at outreach events to inspire the next generation of scientists.
