Biography

Momen Abayazid received his M.Sc. in Biomedical Engineering from Delft University of Technology and completed his PhD in Surgical Robotics at the University of Twente. In 2015, he was a postdoctoral research fellow at Harvard Medical School and Brigham Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA, USA. His research has primarily involved projects related to robotic image-guided needle insertion and motion compensation using machine learning techniques. In 2017, he became an assistant professor in the Robotics and Mechatronics group (RaM), focusing on robotics applications in medicine, soft robotics, and image-guided interventions. Momen is also engaged in teaching Bachelor and Master’s courses such as Signals, Image Processing, and Computer Vision. He serves as a member of the Educational Quality Committee for the Bachelor program in Electrical Engineering at the University of Twente, overseeing various study programs including Bachelor and Master’s courses in Electrical Engineering, Technical Medicine, and Biomedical Engineering.
