Biography

Mona Harissi Dagher is the head of the Department of Ophthalmology at the Montreal University Hospital Center (CHUM) and a full professor of ophthalmology at the University of Montreal. She is also an associate professor at McGill University’s Department of Ophthalmology and Vision Sciences. Dr. Dagher has served as president of the Canadian Ophthalmological Society since 2022. A dedicated educator, she trains medical students, ophthalmology residents, and clinical and research fellows in cornea. She has supervised many graduate and doctoral students as well. Dr. Dagher completed her undergraduate studies at McGill University and received her medical degree and ophthalmology residency training at the University of Montreal, where she made the Dean’s List. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship in cornea, external diseases, and refractive surgery at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, affiliated with Harvard Medical School. A pioneer in keratoprosthesis surgery in Canada, she has received national recognition for her innovative work. Her research primarily focuses on Boston keratoprosthesis, corneal transplantation, and refractive surgery, with over 130 scientific publications to her name. Dr. Dagher is frequently invited as a speaker at prestigious international ophthalmology conferences.
