Biography

Mona Merling is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Pennsylvania. She completed her Ph.D. in Mathematics at the University of Chicago in 2014 under the supervision of Peter. Her research interests include algebraic K-theory, applications of number theory, manifold theory, and equivariant stable homotopy theory. Before joining Penn, she served as a Research Member at the Mathematical Sciences Research Institute in Berkeley and was a guest at the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in Bonn. Originally from Romania, she grew up in Bucharest and attended a German school before pursuing her undergraduate studies at Bard College.
