Dr. Monica Ahluwalia

Biography

Monica Ahluwalia, MD specializes in inherited cardiomyopathies, heart failure, cardiac transplant, and mechanical circulatory support. She completed her MD at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and trained in Internal Medicine, followed by fellowships in Cardiovascular Medicine and Advanced Heart Failure & Transplant Cardiology at top institutions including the University of Pennsylvania and NYU School of Medicine. She is currently an Assistant Professor at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine and serves as the Director of Heart Failure Cardiology and the Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD) Program at the VA Boston Healthcare System affiliated with Mass General Brigham. Her current research interests focus on using machine learning to detect hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and enhance risk stratification tools, particularly for diverse populations. Ahluwalia is dedicated to addressing healthcare disparities and improving access for underrepresented minorities in her field. Her involvement in communities includes recruitment and mentoring to foster diversity in healthcare professions, as well as leading the Inherited Cardiomyopathy Program at Boston Medical Center, aimed at providing comprehensive care for patients and families affected by inherited cardiac diseases.
