Biography

Monica Popa Sârghie’s research, teaching, and service are anchored in an interdisciplinary perspective that emphasizes social responsibility and sustainable systems. Her work examines the intertwined roles of businesses, not-for-profit organizations, and governments in promoting the well-being of individuals, communities, and the planet. At the University of Saskatchewan, her research focuses on sustainability, health, and wellness, as well as the sustainable future of energy and mineral resources. Recent projects address coping mechanisms for human flourishing, technology adoption in Northern Communities, and the intersection of business perspectives with psychiatry, psychology, and kinesiology. Dr. Popa Sârghie’s published works include studies on consumer attitudes towards social responsibility, charitable donations, fair trade systems, and strategic partnerships. She explores trust, fairness, empathy, and reciprocity within consumer behavior, scrutinizing the interplay of sensory, emotional, cognitive, and linguistic influences on decision-making. Through her inquiries into overconsumption and compulsive behaviors, she aims to nurture individual well-being and support healthy societies.
