Biography

Morgan James is a Horizon Fellow and Senior Lecturer at the Brain Mind Centre, School of Psychology at the University of Sydney. His lab examines the neural basis of psychiatric disorders characterized by dysregulated motivation, such as addictions, eating disorders, and depression. He leads an active drug discovery program that aims to translate basic science discoveries into new treatments. His research is funded by grants from the National Institutes of Health, the University of Sydney, and private foundations. He previously held the position of Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the Rutgers Addiction Research Center in NJ, USA, which is the largest multi-disciplinary addiction research site, and remains an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Rutgers. Morgan has received multiple awards including the NHMRC CJ Martin Fellowship and the Sir Keith Murdoch Fellowship from the American Australian Association. He is also an elected Associate Member of the American College of Neuropsychopharmacology and a member of the editorial board for the journal Addiction Neuroscience.
