Biography

Moritz Föllmer is an Associate Professor of Modern History at the University of Amsterdam, having joined in September 2011. He obtained his doctorate from Humboldt University Berlin. Föllmer has held positions at the University of Chicago and the University of Leeds, as well as serving as a Feodor Lynen Fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. His research interests include nationalism, urban modernity, and individuality in the twentieth century, focusing primarily on Germany, France, and broader Europe. His publications address various aspects of individual freedom, the social implications of urban culture, and the historical narrative of the Weimar Republic and Nazi Germany. Recently, he has been involved in collaborative research on cultural history and capitalism and has published extensively in both English and German, with significant works recognized in scholarly circles.
