Biography

Moses Tofa leads the African Leadership Centre’s research agenda from the Nairobi office, focusing on Peace, Society, and State in Africa. He anchors the African Leadership Centre/University of Nairobi's Institute of Development Studies post-graduate module on Peace, Security, and Development. Moses holds a PhD in Political Science from the University of Johannesburg and a PhD in Peace Studies from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. He also earned an MA in International Peace and Security from King's College London and an MSc in International Relations from the University of Zimbabwe. His professional background includes serving as a Senior Researcher at the Centre for Conflict Resolution and Programme Officer at the Open Society Foundation in South Africa. Additionally, he has worked as a Lecturer at the University of Zimbabwe and the Women’s University in Africa. His research interests are centered on elections in Africa, peacebuilding, conflict resolution, and the role of African agency in international relations, especially regarding political parties in Africa.
