Biography

Moshe Ben-Akiva is the Edmund K. Turner Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He is the Director of the MIT Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Lab and serves as the Principal Investigator for the Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology. He holds a PhD in Transportation Systems from MIT and has received honorary degrees from several institutions, including the University of the Aegean, Université Lumière Lyon, KTH Royal Institute of Technology, and the University of Antwerp. His accomplishments include the founding of the MIT-based Discrete Choice Analysis textbook and authoring over 400 papers in refereed journals and conferences. Ben-Akiva's consultancy work spans multiple sectors, including transportation, energy, and telecommunications, working with organizations such as the Hague Consulting Group and RAND Europe. He has also served on numerous advisory committees and received awards such as the Robert Herman Lifetime Achievement Award from the Transportation Science Institute.
