Dr. Moyna Flannigan

Biography

Moyna Flannigan has worked in galleries and museums across Europe and the United States. Her exhibitions include 'Once Upon a Time: Portrait Miniatures' at the Scottish National Portrait Gallery in 2004 and 'New Work by Moyna Flannigan' at the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art in 2010. Notable exhibitions also include 'Vanuit Hier' at the Van Abbe Museum in Eindhoven, Netherlands in 2011, and presentations at the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh in 2010, and 'GENERATION: 25 Years of Contemporary Art in Scotland' at the Gallery of Modern Art in Glasgow. Recent exhibitions include 'Space Shuffle' at the Collective Gallery for the Edinburgh Art Festival in 2024, and 'Museum Memory' at Museum Arnhem in the Netherlands in 2024. Flannigan's work is featured in Phaidon’s 'Vitamin C+: Collage Contemporary Art,' published in 2023. She received the prestigious Bryan Robertson Award and graduated with a BA (Hons) in Painting from the Edinburgh College of Art in 1985. Flannigan also received a major scholarship to study for an MFA at Yale University School of Art from 1985 to 1987, and was awarded a Scottish Arts Council Fellowship at the British School in Rome in 1997. She has lectured in Painting at the Glasgow School of Art from 1995 to 2005 and was a Teaching Fellow at the Edinburgh College of Art from 2015 to 2019, returning as a Lecturer in Fine Art, Painting in 2024.
