Biography

Born in Bangladesh, Muhammad completed high school in the UAE before moving to Canada for his post-secondary education. He earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Queen's University and later worked at Deloitte’s Assurance & Advisory services, obtaining CPA and CA designations. Afterward, he returned to Kingston to complete his M.Sc. in Finance and ultimately his PhD in Accounting at the University of Toronto. Following the completion of his PhD, Muhammad joined City University of Hong Kong as an Assistant Professor for two years before joining the University of Waterloo. His primary research interests focus on capital markets, particularly in the areas of Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs), executive compensation, and financial reporting. Muhammad strives to investigate the policy implications that shape decision-making for participants in the capital markets.
