Muhammad Umair Khan is a recent PhD graduate in Photovoltaic Engineering from the University of New South Wales (UNSW). His research during the PhD program focused on aspects of nano-textures based solar cell fabrication, characterization, and stability. He has worked on the development of reactive ion etching (RIE) and laser doped selective emitter (LDSE) solar cells, and investigated light and elevated temperature induced degradation (LeTID) in nano-textured solar cells. He also contributed to projects related to the hydrogenation of radiation damage in solar cells. His research is part of a multi-million dollar project funded by the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA), which involved collaboration with industry. After completing his PhD, he joined Professor Bram Hoex's group as a post-doctoral research fellow in February 2022, where he primarily focuses on solar cell and module stability, investigating potential induced degradation (PID) and developing faster testing conditions.
