Dr. Muhammad Zaman

Biography

Muhammad Zaman is a Professor at Boston University's College of Engineering, where he serves as the principal investigator of the Laboratory for Molecular & Cellular Dynamics. He holds a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Chicago and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at MIT. Zaman's research primarily investigates systems biology, tumor invasion, and metastasis, with a focus on developing computational and experimental tools to enhance the quality of life and medical practices in developing countries. He works with various institutions on fostering curriculum development in higher education and partners with non-profits to create affordable and robust diagnostic solutions for remote areas. He has received numerous accolades, including the FEBS Outstanding Young Investigator Award and the Regents Teaching Award from the University of Texas System. His current roles include Associate Chair for Undergraduate Studies at Boston University's School of Public Health and a faculty member at the Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine, where he mentors graduate students. Zaman is actively involved in various interdisciplinary research initiatives and has led multiple grants addressing health challenges in global contexts.
