Dr. Mukhtar Hajizada

Biography

Mukhtar Hajizada is an adjunct research professor at the Institute of European, Russian and Eurasian Studies (EURUS) at Carleton University, Ottawa. He is noted for his expertise in European integration, comparative regionalisms, and security cooperation in the wider Black Sea area and South Caucasus, as well as the European Union’s foreign neighborhood policy. Hajizada's academic background includes a prestigious Fulbright scholarship at Harvard University’s Davis Center for Russian and Eurasian Studies for the academic year 2017-18 and he was awarded the Jean Monnet Chair by the European Commission in 2014. His teaching encompasses government and politics, international relations, and research methods within social sciences. Hajizada has contributed significantly to the field through various refereed publications and policy briefs, discussing themes such as regional collaboration, democratization within the BSEC Parliamentary Assembly, and the implications of mixed regionalism in the EU and the Black Sea area.
