Biography

Mukul Sharma is a Professor and holds the W.A. (Tex) Moncrief, Jr. Centennial Endowed Chair in the Hildebrand Department of Petroleum and Geosystems Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin. He completed his PhD in Petroleum Engineering and his M.S. in Chemical Engineering at the University of Southern California. He also earned a B.Tech in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. Dr. Sharma's research interests encompass hydraulic fracturing, oilfield water management, reservoir geomechanics, and formation damage. He has published over 400 journal articles and conference proceedings and holds 23 patents. His contributions to the field are recognized through several honors, including the SPE Honorary Membership and membership in the National Academy of Engineering. He has also received multiple awards from the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) for his distinguished achievements and teaching excellence, highlighting his role as a leader in petroleum engineering education and research.
