Dr. Murad Alam

Biography

Murad Alam is a Professor at the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University, where he serves as Vice Chair in the Department of Dermatology. He is a recognized expert in dermatology with significant contributions to laser and cosmetic surgery. Dr. Alam received his medical degree from Yale University and further trained in internal medicine at the University of Michigan. He completed his residency in dermatology at Columbia University and pursued fellowship training in laser cosmetic surgery and Mohs micrographic surgery. He is the author of over 400 peer-reviewed publications and has held several editorial positions, including Editor for Archives of Dermatological Research and Associate Editor for multiple dermatology journals. His leadership roles include being President-Elect of the American Academy of Dermatology and involvement with numerous professional organizations. Dr. Alam's research focuses on skin cancer treatments and cosmetic dermatology, with an emphasis on developing clinical practice guidelines and improving patient outcomes. He also directs fellowship training programs in Micrographic Surgery and Cosmetic Dermatologic Surgery at Northwestern University.
