Biography

Muralee Murugesu's research focuses on the design, synthesis, and characterization of new nanoscale inorganic materials, specifically investigating their interesting physical properties, including magnetism, conductivity, and optical properties. He places particular emphasis on the preparation and characterization of mixed-metal Single Molecule Magnets (SMMs) and Single Chain Magnets (SCMs). This research explores the amalgamation of magnetic materials with fullerenes and carbon nanotubes, allowing for the creation of hybrid materials with potential applications in novel nanoscale devices for quantum computing and molecular electronics. Various characterization techniques are employed within his research, including X-ray diffraction, infrared spectroscopy, nuclear magnetic resonance, electrochemistry, electron paramagnetic resonance, SQUID magnetometry, Micro-SQUID, and scanning electron microscopy.
