Murali Haran is a Professor of Statistics at Penn State. He received his Ph.D. and M.S. in Statistics from the University of Minnesota, and a B.S. in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University. He was the Chair of the American Statistical Association (ASA) Section on Risk Analysis from 2013 to 2014, and served as treasurer of the International Society for Bayesian Analysis from 2014 to 2016. He directed the Penn State Node of the NSF research network STATMOS and was a member of the ASA Advisory Committee on Climate Change Policy from 2009 to 2014. Haran has been recognized as a Fellow of the American Statistical Association in 2016 and received the Abdel El-Shaarawi Young Researcher Award in 2015 for outstanding contributions to the field of environmetrics.
