Dr. Murali Kota

Biography

Murali Kota is the Founder and Board Member of V-Labs and serves as an Adjunct Professor in the Ming Hsieh Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Southern California. He has extensive experience in the semiconductor industry, having held positions such as Distinguished Member of Technical Staff at GlobalFoundries and Chief Technologist at IBM India’s Semiconductor Research and Development Center. His work focuses on developing semiconductor nano quantum scale devices and advanced materials process models for technology nodes ranging from 32nm to 7nm. Murali obtained his Master's and Doctorate degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2003 and 2006, respectively. His graduate studies centered on Quantum Device Physics and Computing, particularly through the use of NMR and superconducting quantum circuits. He has authored over 75 journal and conference papers and holds 35 issued or filed patents. Throughout his career, he has received numerous awards including the IBM Award, IBM Outstanding Technical Achievement Awards, INSA Young Scientist Award, NASI Young Scientist, INAE Young Engineer Award, and the MRSI Medal.
