Dr. Murat Basar

Biography

Murat Basar is a highly experienced embryologist and research scientist with over 15 years of expertise in assisted reproductive technologies and developmental biology. He is an Associate Research Scientist and Senior Embryologist at Yale University School of Medicine, specializing in Obstetrics, Gynecology, Reproductive Endocrinology, and Infertility. He serves as the Associate Director of both the Yale Sperm Physiology Laboratory and the Yale Endocrinology Laboratory, where he contributes to translational research that bridges molecular science with clinical fertility care. Dr. Basar earned his PhD in Integrated Reproductive Biology and Embryology from a joint program between Istanbul University Institute of Health Sciences and Yale University School of Medicine. His career includes pivotal leadership roles, including IVF Laboratories Operations Manager at Bahceci Health Group, and Laboratory Director at Johns Hopkins Anadolu Medical Center. He has served as an Assistant Professor at Biruni University in the Medical Faculty. His research interests focus on embryonic stress-related pregnancy complications, the pathogenesis of endometriosis, and endometriosis-associated pain. Notably, he has led investigations into the effects of spaceflight on female reproductive aging, exploring how microgravity impacts oocyte quality and mitochondrial health. Dr. Basar is recognized as an expert in advanced reproductive techniques and is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Society for Reproductive Medicine and the American Association of Bioanalysts.
