Muriel Cuendet is the leader of the Pharmacognosy Group at the Translational Research Centre Oncohaematology (CRTOH), University of Geneva. She earned her PhD in pharmaceutical sciences from the University of Lausanne, where she focused on the isolation of bioactive compounds. After completing her postdoctoral research in the Department of Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmacognosy at the University of Illinois at Chicago, USA, she served as a research assistant professor at Purdue University, West Lafayette, USA, leading studies on the molecular mechanisms of cancer chemopreventive compounds. In 2009, she became an associate professor at the University of Geneva's School of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Currently, she leads a research group consisting of 10 doctoral students and post-docs, focusing on the anticancer activity of natural and synthetic compounds. Her research is supported by national and European organizations as well as the private sector. She is also an associate editor for Pharmaceutical Biology and serves on the advisory board of the American Botanical Council.
