Muriel Mac-Seing holds a Bachelor of Nursing and a Master of Applied Sciences from McGill University. She completed a PhD in Public Health (Global Health option) at the Université de Montréal. Her thesis examined, through the lens of intersectionality, the relationships between legislation, health policies, and the use of sexual and reproductive health services among persons with disabilities in a post-conflict context in northern Uganda. She conducted her postdoctoral training on global health governance related to COVID-19 and research priorities in population health at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto. With 15 years of field practice in international health development in Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa, her research interests include global public health, intersectional equity, intersectionality in global health, disability and anti-ableism, social justice, global health governance, policy analysis, structural and social determinants of health, gender equity and equality, sexual and reproductive health, including HIV/AIDS and sexual violence, and social implications of the climate crisis, through interdisciplinary approaches, qualitative research, mixed methods, and integrated knowledge mobilization and exchange in global public health. She is particularly interested in transnational relations, power dynamics, socio-political and environmental contexts, authentic partnerships in research, and diversity in global health collaborations. Muriel is a co-founder of Women Global Health Canada.
