Dr. Murray Baker

Biography

Murray Baker completed his Bachelor of Science with Honours (and University Medal) and PhD in organic chemistry at the University of Sydney. He has worked as a Research Scientist with the ICI Research Group in Melbourne and undertook post-doctoral research at Harvard University before moving to the University of Western Australia. His research expertise includes biochemical sensors, biomaterials, chemical sensors, infrared spectroscopy, nanochemistry, NMR spectroscopy, organic chemistry, organometallic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, polymer chemistry, surface chemistry, and synthetic chemistry. He is involved in several collaborative and funded research projects, including investigations into high intensity focused ultrasound for dental restorative fillings and drug biomaterials. He coordinates and teaches undergraduate chemistry units such as CHEM2210 and CHEM3302. His significant contributions to the field are demonstrated by his h-index and citation metrics from Scopus.
