Biography

Murray Richardson conducts interdisciplinary research focusing on Geomatics (GIS and Remote Sensing) and Physical Hydrology Biogeosciences, examining natural and anthropogenic drivers of surface hydrology and water quality in Canada's northern ecozones and the Ottawa-Gatineau region. He specializes in high spatial resolution topographic vegetation analysis using airborne LiDAR and drones. His ongoing research interests include the application of emerging techniques in machine learning, image classification, and statistical clustering to spatial environmental datasets. As a faculty member, he teaches various courses in the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies and supervises both graduate and undergraduate students. He actively collaborates with faculty colleagues and adjunct research professors, and co-directs the Water Ice Research Lab at Carleton University. Murray works with government, industry, and community partners, and is open to new research opportunities that align with his expertise.
