Biography

Murshed Chowdhury is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics at the University of New Brunswick, Fredericton, Canada. His research and teaching interests encompass open economy macroeconomics, development economics, financial regulations, and financial flows in developing countries, as well as information communication technology. He has published extensively in various academic journals, including the European Journal of Political Economy, Empirical Economics, and the Journal of International Development. Before joining the University of New Brunswick, Chowdhury held teaching positions at institutions such as Algoma University and King’s University College. He has also served as a consultant for the United Nations Development Programme and has supervised numerous graduate students while being actively engaged in various academic projects. His commitment to teaching was recognized with the prestigious Allan P. Stuart Award for Excellence in Teaching. Chowdhury currently serves as a faculty advisor for the Bank of Canada’s Governor Challenge competition and as a member of the UNB senate.
