Dr. Mustafa Bashir

Biography

Mustafa Shadi Rifaat Bashir is a Professor in the Department of Radiology at Duke University, also holding a professorship in Medicine and membership in the Duke Cancer Institute. His primary field of expertise is hepatobiliary pancreatic imaging, focusing on critical areas such as liver cancer, fatty liver disease, chronic liver conditions, and pancreatic cancer. He has been involved in technical developments in MRI and quantitative imaging, significantly contributing to advancements in these areas. With an M.D. from the University of Iowa, Bashir has been awarded multiple grants for his research initiatives, including studies on nonalcoholic fatty liver disease and genomic imprinting. His extensive experience includes past appointments as Associate Professor and Assistant Professor in Radiology and Medicine, further solidifying his standing in the academic community.
