Dr. Mustafa Gül

Biography

Mustafa Gül is a professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Alberta, specializing in infrastructural research related to smart and sustainable cities. His academic journey began with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Boğaziçi University in Turkey, followed by a Master of Science in Civil Engineering and another in Electrical Engineering, both from the University of Central Florida. He completed his PhD in Civil Engineering at the same institution, focusing on advanced methodologies for structural health monitoring. Professor Gül has extensive experience in academia, having transitioned from assistant to associate and then full professorship at the University of Alberta. In addition to his administrative duties as the Associate Dean of Research for Infrastructure Centres, he is actively involved in pioneering research initiatives aimed at enhancing energy efficiency in urban environments through innovative infrastructure solutions, artificial intelligence, and data analytics. His contributions to the field are highlighted by numerous publications in reputable academic journals, where he explores critical infrastructure management, the application of IoT in civil engineering, and smart technology integration in city planning.
