Biography

Mustafa Mohamad is an expert in stochastic dynamical systems, uncertainty quantification, extreme event analysis, and data-driven methods in science and engineering. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Mechanics with a minor in Mathematics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2012, graduating with the highest honors as a Bronze Tablet scholar. He then obtained his Master’s and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering and Computation from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 2015 and 2017, respectively. During his academic journey, he received several fellowships and awards at MIT. After completing his doctorate, Mohamad served as a postdoctoral associate at the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences at New York University. He has also worked in the private sector as a research scientist at Numerica Corporation, where he focused on developing optimization sensor scheduling algorithms for space and air defense applications.
