Professor Dr. Myka Tucker Abramson

Biography

Myka Tucker-Abramson is a Reader in the Department of English and Comparative Literary Studies at the University of Warwick. Her research focuses on modern and contemporary American literature, particularly urban geography, Marxist-feminist theory, and world-ecology. She has written two books: 'Novel Shocks: Urban Renewal and the Cultural Origins of Neoliberalism', published by Fordham University Press in 2018, examines the consolidation of hegemony in the post-WWII era, while her forthcoming book 'Cartographies of Empire: The Road Novel and Hegemony' from Stanford University Press offers a comparative analysis of the road novel across various countries. She has taught numerous modules, including 'Modes of Reading' and 'Global Literary Radicalisms'. Her research interests also extend to the global proletarian novel and the intersections of literary studies and political theory. In addition, she has participated in significant academic projects analyzing literature's role in cultural and socioeconomic contexts, and she supervises graduate projects within her areas of expertise.
