Biography

Mylène Jaccoud is a professor at the Université de Montréal in the Department of Criminology. Her primary research areas focus on alternative justice policies and practices, particularly mediation and restorative justice, and analyses of the relationship between the administration of criminal justice and Indigenous Peoples in Quebec. Ongoing projects address governance within First Nations and Inuit communities in the socio-penal sector, violence against Indigenous women, specialized tribunals, and social regulation reconstruction in Indigenous communities. A significant intervention project initiated in 2011 is currently being implemented in three communities aimed at restoring social regulation in Inuit communities in Nunavik, involving participatory research. Additionally, Jaccoud is engaged in training and supporting the development of alternative practices within alternative justice organizations across Quebec.
